Position: Job Developer for Day Habilitation Without Walls (DHWW)

Summary: Block Institute is seeking a dedicated Job Developer to join our Adult Day Services team. As the Job Developer for our Day Habilitation Without Walls (DHWW) program, you will be responsible for identifying, securing, and supporting meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves creating partnerships with local businesses, providing job coaching, and facilitating successful job placements in community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations to identify suitable job opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities, promoting inclusive hiring practices.
Negotiate job placements, internships, and other work experiences tailored to participants' interests and abilities.
Conduct individualized assessments to identify participants' skills, interests, and support needs related to employment.
Create individualized employment plans in collaboration with participants, their support teams, and vocational counselors.
Provide job readiness training, resume development, interview preparation, and other pre-employment supports.
Actively market participants' skills to prospective employers to secure job opportunities.
Coordinate job trials, interviews, and on-the-job assessments to match participants with suitable employment positions.
Facilitate the placement process, including necessary paperwork, transportation arrangements, and ongoing support during the transition to employment.
Provide on-site job coaching to ensure successful job performance and develop natural supports for participants.
Maintain accurate records of participant progress, job placements, and employer contacts using designated databases.
Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all program participants at all times.
Collaborate with other providers to ensure person-centered and individualized service provision.
Uphold confidentiality and follow Block Institute's policies on reporting incidents, including abuse and neglect.
Use positive approaches when handling difficult situations and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Attend required trainings and workshops, maintaining certifications in CPR/First Aid and SCIP.
Assist in agency-wide training as requested.
Adhere to all Block Institute's policies, including attendance and punctuality.
Represent Block Institute's mission, vision, and values within and outside the organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in health, human services, or special education preferred.
Minimum of three years' experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Supervisory and training experience preferred.
Driver’s license required.
Certifications in SCIP, CPR, and AMAP preferred.
Working knowledge of NYS OPWDD Day Program regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Therap software.
Training in the Council for Quality Leadership’s Personal Outcome Measures evaluation tool preferred.
