In the Personal Investor business domain of Vanguard, we are constantly striving to understand and enhance customer experience by creating product offerings that align with changing business needs.
We support an AWS powered analytics environment with AWS Athena, Presto, and Sagemaker that empowers our users to create analytics and report on data thru a rich set of dashboards built in tableau. AWS EMR and Glue are the processing frameworks that we leverage to prepare data ingested from a diverse set of sources. We are looking to modernize our analytics environment by moving to serverless compute services and adopting fit to purpose technologies with a domain driven, shift-left mindset for analytics.
As a solutions architect, you are expected to have deep IT knowledge across a wide range of technologies, AWS cloud services, and understanding of the investments business and will use this knowledge to build the data fabric in support of the self-service analytics platform.
Core Responsibilities
- Must have a deep working knowledge of AWS Cloud, distributed technologies, data security, and IAM access policies to be able to drive technology decisions with our IT and business partners.
- Understand the Personal Investor Data/Business landscape and leverage your IT expertise to evaluate current technology stack against business needs.
- Create and share architecture blueprint and capability matrix with central technology team, and drive technology choices that are business driven.
- Work closely with Data Engineering teams, to review and document patterns of existing pipelines as a step to move towards low code/no-code ETL framework that will improve on processing SLA, remove redundancy, optimize cost, and promote self-service pipelines for the business.
- Be hands-on and have Python coding skills to be able to navigate thru code repositories in Github or Bitbucket, build CICD pipelines as needed, experience in Github Co-pilot, run end to end POC for evaluating new technologies or business concepts.
- Work with your peers to design and build a test harness that will support the testing needs of the platform, as well as build common tools or capabilities to streamline data engineering pipelines.
- Utilizing our federated operating model, work closely with the data management, central technology, domain architect and product teams to identify fit to purpose solutions that will span data governance, data quality, meta-data management, storage, big data processing, query and database needs for a connected technology and user experience.
- Partner with engineering and SRE teams for diagnosing issues, navigating thru application/splunk logs to build dashboards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship and coaching architects in the team and provide guidance to engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of technology architect or lead experience.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
