What We Do
The Data & Analytics team provides actionable intelligence for data-driven decision making. We collaborate with senior management, business and sales teams, and product development and research teams to provide both data and advanced analysis.
The Software Engineer, Data & Analytics will work closely with Analysts on the team as well as Software Engineers on other teams to build the datasets, and automation required to power analytics for the exchange.
Our Software Engineers design, develop, deploy, and support Analytics systems and datasets. We process data from numerous equities, options, futures, foreign exchange, and crypto market exchange platforms around the globe. We analyze every order, cancel, and execution with care. We architect systems that can analyze billions of events per day. We optimize for increases in data volumes. We strive to create data that provides actionable intelligence to our business and allows us to design new products for our customers. We are analytical thinkers. We are always learning our craft. If it’s broken, we fix it. If it needs refactoring, we refactor it. If it’s hard to test, we make it testable. We are pragmatic.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing highly performant data aggregation and transformations on large financial transaction data in C++ and Java, to create new datasets for advanced analytics and machine learning
- Building tools and libraries in python for common analytics tasks
- Develop and support Jupyter notebook environment on AWS
- Translate analytics needs into dataset specifications working with analysts and business leaders
- Providing hands on technical help to analysts across the enterprise
- Participating in technical discussions and code reviews
- Improving the performance of SQL queries
- Implement innovative solutions to automate common analytics tasks
Requirements:
- 2 or more years of software engineering experience
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented programming languages, must have previously worked in either Java, C++, or Python and has a willingness to work in and learn all three
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Knowledge of SQL and relational database structure is a strong plus
- Knowledge of financial markets and associated data is a strong plus
