Who You'll Work With
As a Residential Real Estate Agent, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of real estate professionals. This team will include other agents, brokers, and support staff who will help you navigate the housing transactions process. You will also have the opportunity to build relationships with clients, local businesses, and other real estate agents.

Who You'll Impact
As a Residential Real Estate Agent, you will have an opportunity to impact the lives of individuals and families in your community. You will be the one helping them through the process of finding a new home, selling their current home, or helping them make an investment in real estate. You will be their trusted advisor in the process and help them make a significant decision.

Goals You'll Strive Towards
As a Residential Real Estate Agent, your main goal will be to facilitate successful real estate transactions. You will develop a network of clients that you can assist with their housing needs. You will also strive to increase your knowledge of the local market and continue to build relationships with potential and current clients.

Responsibilities You'll Have

  • Interact with customers via phone, email, social media, and in-person meetings
  • Advise clients on the state of the local real estate market
  • Answer questions about contracts, terms of sale, and other parts of the real estate process
  • Utilize computer technology to manage a database of customers and prospects
  • Proactively reach out to clients to initiate or follow-up on real estate transactions
  • Manage marketing and advertising through websites, mail-outs, and open houses

What Does Success Look Like
Success for a Residential Real Estate Agent looks like completing successful real estate transactions and building a network of satisfied clients. It also means staying up to date on the local real estate market and building relationships that will lead to future success. You will also need to be able to work independently and be comfortable with the idea of self-promotion and networking.

How You'll Know if You're Not Cut Out for Real Estate
If you prefer to work with a strict set of instructions and dislike dealing with uncertainty, then you may not be well-suited for a career in real estate. As a Residential Real Estate Agent, you will need to be comfortable working independently and dealing with the unpredictability of the real estate market. If you don't enjoy networking and self-promotion, it will be difficult to build a successful real estate career.
