Purpose:

To oversee, direct, plan, staff and coordinate the daily operations of the Housekeeping/Laundry department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Requires a High School Diploma and the ability to follow oral and writtendirections
  • Two years of housekeeping/laundry experience in Healthcare operation withprevious supervisory experience needed
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Training in environmental control and operation of laundry equipment practicesand procedures
  • Positive attitude toward the elderlyEssential Job Functions:Assume administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for supervising and directing the Housekeeping and Laundry Department; assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining housekeeping and laundry services; coordinate housekeeping and laundry services and activities with other related departments; inspect and maintain storage rooms, linen closets, utility and janitorial areas of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department; and, assist the Infection Control Coordinator and/or Committee in identifying, evaluating and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that Category I and II housekeeping and laundry tasks are properly classified.Management & Training:
  • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, selection, training and progressive discipline of facility Housekeeping/Laundry staff
  • Direct and supervise Housekeeping/Laundry Staff on a daily basis
  • Develop and participate in in-service training for Housekeeping/Laundry staff
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the Department budget
  • Ensure Housekeeping/Laundry staff receive proper training and comply with

Federal, State and Facility standards

Physical Job Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Works beyond normal working hours as necessary.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Two years of housekeeping/laundry experience in Healthcare operation withprevious supervisory experience.
