We are seeking a dependable and experienced Crane Operator to manage and operate our industrial cranes used in our construction projects. As our crane operator, you are responsible for operating our 80- or 40-ton railway crane to lift and move heavy objects and materials throughout our facility. This role requires a combination of technical skills, physical stamina, and a strong understanding of load capacities. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in operating cranes safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on adhering to all safety regulations and standards while coordinating with ground staff via radio or hand signals to ensure safe handling of loads. At Thompson Pipe Group, Pressure Division, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of our operations, contributing directly to the integrity and timeliness of our projects. REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Proven experience as a crane operator, demonstrating strong knowledge of crane operations and safety procedures.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception to accurately position loads and maneuver the crane.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify and address any equipment malfunctions or issues.
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings, lifting plans, and signal communication to execute precise lifting operations.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with team members and follow instructions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess load weights and determine load capacities to ensure safe lifting operations, making necessary adjustments as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, including signalpersons, riggers, and supervisors, to ensure coordinated and safe lifting operations.
  • Safely and efficiently operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy objects, equipment, and materials according to project requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain the proper function of crane controls, ensuring they are responsive and functioning correctly during operations.
  • Keep accurate records of crane usage, maintenance, and inspections, reporting any issues or concerns to supervisors.
A minimum of three years’ experience working as a crane operator, preferably in a construction or industrial setting. Valid crane operator certification from a recognized training organization and additional certifications such as rigging or signaling is preferred, not always required. Work Hours
  • Monday-Friday (Mandatory OT on some Saturdays based on business needs)
  • 10-to-12-hour shifts
  • (Holidays are off)
