We are launching a mobile pet care company in Tampa, FL to empower mobile veterinarians, groomers, and technicians with the opportunity, resources, and support to achieve their goals and provide both exceptional pet care and client service.

Together we will strive to deliver pet health and wellness services in a way that meaningfully improves the lives of pets, pet parents, and pet care professionals alike.

We are looking for a Lead Pet Groomer to join Wellsprings founding team. You will play a critical role in launching and helping grow the Companys Tampa mobile grooming division in a unique player-coach capacity whereby you will provide best-in-class mobile pet grooming services and build an industry-leading mobile pet grooming team. Along the way you will be supported by our veterinarians and senior leadership team.

Finally, you will be working in a high-growth, professional, and entrepreneurial environment where the team, organizational culture, and best pet care and client service matters. Our goal is to be the employer and provider of choice in the Tampa pet care market.

What You Will Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives

Objective #1: Within your first 30 days, you will co-develop the mobile pet grooming service offering, see your first clients and start building the mobile pet grooming team.

  • Service Offering: Assist leadership team with development of practical and easy-to-market service offering for Companys launching period.
  • Production: Complete scheduled grooming visits, help develop a referral base of clients, and perform strategic pro-bono grooming visits (e.g. animal shelter).
  • Team Growth: Hire and onboard 2 experienced groomers.

Objective #2: Within your first 3 months, you will ramp-up production, co-develop and implement a performance management program, and become a culture carrier.

  • Production Ramp-Up: Demonstrate that your team is making meaningful progress towards the goal of 6 client visits per day per mobile groomer within the first 6 months of a groomers start date. We will hold you accountable to a weekly production goal as we strongly believe that effective managers need to keep their skills sharp and personally contribute to the companys production targets.
  • Performance Management: Work with leadership team to define simple and measurable productivity, quality and customer service goals. Implement goals along with process for goal monitoring and outcome assessment.
  • Culture Carrier: Walk the extra mile so that it looks effortless when you put Wellsprings values into action.

Objective #3: Over the next 6 months, you will complete the ramp-up of the first 2 groomers, identify ways to decrease the ramp-up time of future hires, hire 3 additional groomers and co-design a groomer career path with the leadership team.

  • Production Ramp-Up: Meet goal of 6 visits per day per groomer in the 6

  • Ramp-Up Optimization: Analyze data along with lessons learned to identify and implement actions that reduce the ramp-up period of future hires.
  • Team Growth: Hire and onboard 3 experienced groomers. The goal is to finish your first 6 months with 5 groomers.
  • Groomer Career Path: Harness your wealth of knowledge and relationships with Wellsprings veterinarians by designing a groomer career path outlining goals, skills and responsibilities for various achievement levels.

Who We Are Looking For - The Competencies That Matter

We are looking for candidates who bring a strong foundation to build on:

  • 3 years of experience as a pet groomer and experience working as a manager (preferred but not required)
  • Strong knowledge of pet grooming techniques and breed requirements
  • Technology utilization/aptitude (e.g. scheduling software, practice management software, etc.) in prior roles
  • Ability to groom pets of all sizes
  • Associates degree in veterinary technology to help with integration of health / vet and wellness services (preferred but not required)
  • Detail-oriented and motivated to succeed

  • Flexibility: Setting boundaries and having a work schedule is important. But occasionally this position will require flexibility in terms of working hours to ensure we exceed clients expectations.
  • Embrace relationships with the team: Building strong relationships with clients is critical. But as a manager you focus first and foremost on building genuine relationships with your team because your teams output is your output.
  • Its okay to be wrong: We are building a company and we are pursuing a unique path. We will make mistakes, learn from them and move on. Making mistakes shows that you take risks (within boundaries). We love that.

How We Pay - Your Compensation Package

Your compensation will be comprised of a competitive base salary, a percentage of your production, a bonus tied to personal goals and a benefits package.
