Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as aFirmware Engineer (BIOS/Embedded Controller)on ourSoftware Engineering Teamin ourClient Solutions Groupin Austin, Texas.What You’ll Achieve:As a Firmware (BIOS/EC) engineer you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based on the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment.You will: Take part in the full software development life cycle including architecture, design, development, test, continuous delivery and support of UEFI BIOS and Embedded ControllerLead next generation firmware architecture design, ensuring it is modular, portable, resilient, and secure on ARM based embedded controllerLead firmware development as an active member of an agile team, collaboratively realizing features through development, test and deliveryMentor team members in design collaboration, code reviews, development tools and processesCollaborate with global internal functional teams and partnersEssential Requirements12 + years of relevant experience in architecture,design and development of x86, x64 and ARM UEFI BIOS/PC Firmwarewith a master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related disciplineKnowledge or relevant deployment experience ofPC ecosystem with a focus on silicon initialization, memory initialization, storage, PCIe, NVMe USB, security, in-band/out-of-band manageability in BIOSExperience with multiple programming languages (C/C++/Rust); operating systems;RTOS operating system such as Zephyr, OS device drivers ; system, network; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilitiesStrong experience with scripting languages such asPython skills (pytest/Robot, async I/O, logging, packaging);solid shell scripting (PowerShell/Bash)ML skills: model development withPyTorch/TensorFlow/scikit-learn , feature engineering for time-series/logs, evaluation and calibration.Ability to code/debug and guide others to code/debug flexible, scalable and complex programs, using either written or verbal design specificationsExperience with the security development life cycle, including technical understanding of common security vulnerabilities and risks, and countermeasuresFluent in utilization of source code analysis tools such as Fortify, Coverity, Clang, and AI assistant tools for developmentCompensation Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
