Key Performance Objectives (KPOs):
  • Improve the quality of gears and splines manufactured:
  • Increase the efficiency of gear manufacturing operations: Within the first year, you will be expected to identify and implement at least two process improvements that will result in a 5% reduction in production time. This could involve optimizing NC programs, improving machine uptime, or streamlining workflows. You will measure your success by tracking production cycle times and demonstrating a reduction in overall production time
  • Ensure the manufacturability of new product designs. You will collaborate with the design team to propose solutions that ensure the products can be manufactured efficiently and at high quality. Your success will be measured by the number of manufacturability issues identified and resolved before production begins.
Major Challenges:
  • Balance the need for quality with the need for efficiency: It is important to ensure that gears and splines meet all quality specifications, but it is also important to produce them in a timely manner. You will need to find creative solutions that improve both quality and efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with the latest manufacturing technologies: The gear manufacturing industry is constantly evolving. You will need to be proactive in staying up to date with the latest technologies and equipment to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work effectively in a team environment: This role requires you to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including manufacturing operators, inspectors, and design engineers. You will need to be able to communicate effectively, delegate tasks appropriately, and build strong relationships with your colleagues.
Process of Success:
  • 30-60 Days: During the first 30-60 days, you will focus on learning about the gear manufacturing process, the company's quality standards, and the current performance of the manufacturing operations. You will also begin to build relationships with your colleagues.
  • 60-90 Days: In the next 30 days, you will start to identify opportunities for process improvement. You will also develop a short-term action plan to address some of the most pressing challenges.
  • 90 Days and Beyond: After 90 days, you will begin to implement your action plan and track your progress towards achieving the KPOs. You will also continue to learn and grow in your role, taking on more challenging tasks and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise in Gear Manufacturing: Understanding of gear terminology, gear design principles, manufacturing processes (hobbing, shaping, grinding), and inspection procedures.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to gear quality and production efficiency.
  • Analytical Skills: Adept at analyzing data to identify trends and root causes of problems.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience in developing and implementing process improvement plans
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Teamwork Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders across different departments
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to others.
