A boutique law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join a fast-growing full-service law firm based in Columbia, Maryland.

They are seeking a candidate who is willing to jump into a fast-paced environment and grow the firm's Bankruptcy Practice. The ideal candidate will be licensed in Maryland, but licenses in Virginia, and the District of Columbia are a big plus.

Job Summary:

You will provide legal counsel and representation to individuals who are filing for bankruptcy (debtor). You will guide clients through the bankruptcy process, ensuring that their rights are protected and that they understand their options for debt relief. Your role involves analyzing each client's financial situation, advising them on the most appropriate type of bankruptcy to file for (Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, etc.), and representing them in court proceedings and negotiations with creditors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review of documents for filing bankruptcy cases
  • Drafting bankruptcy motions related to case needs.
  • Review bankruptcy petitions, schedules, applications, and plans.
  • Experience filing documents in bankruptcy court and state courts.
  • Filing petitions and motions in the various bankruptcy courts.
  • Extensive communication with clients, creditors, and court staff.
  • Provide support for our growing practice.

Please note - Must have 5-10 years of debtor experience or a combination of both creditor and debtor experience
