Position Title: Research Associate, Fermentation (Part-time)

Pay rate: $28-32/hour.

Schedule: 8:30 am 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, and could include some weekdays (flexible times)

Overview

The Research Associate will support fermentation experiments with a small team. This role has the opportunity to grow into a full-time opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Fermenter set-up, operation and cleaning, culture inoculation, harvesting, and downstream processing.
  • Relevant measurements and assays.
  • Shake flask experiments for medium optimization.
  • Biological media, stock solutions, and buffers according to SOPs.
  • Experimental records, SOPs, and reports.
  • Data and communicate process metrics; utilize metrics to recommend improvements.
  • Perform an inventory of consumables and order as required.
  • Identify issues and notify the supervisor as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in biology or a related field is required.
  • One year of experience working in a lab or comparable environment that involves knowledge of sanitation and sterilization methods, procedures, and equipment.
  • Experience creating media.
  • Experience with bioprocess scale-up.
  • Availability to work weekends if needed.
