Bridgewater is looking for a Senior Power System Protection Engineer to support our project. The Engineer will need to have a Certified PE License. Here is more about the role.
Job Description:
- Develop and provide studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets associated with the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of clients entire electric system including Transmission, Subtransmission, Substation and Distribution (T,S,D).
- Conduct studies of power systems and equipment to evaluate system performance during existing, future, and contingency conditions. Make recommendations for actions to mitigate system performance deficiencies supported by system analyses reports and data.
- Assist in preparing reports, documenting system study results, performance deficiencies, and recommending mitigating or corrective actions.
- Conduct power flow using computational power flow tools such as Cyme or Synergi.
- Update existing engineering analysis models with new elements and system loads.
- Incorporate client-provided field data in engineering analysis models. Incorporate forecasts of client system load growth in engineering analysis models. Review and update load projection entries.
- Provide estimates of new business loads and performs allocation to appropriate distribution feeders and enters updated load forecast.
- Perform system analysis by preparing load, contingency, and area studies for developing client plans for system expansions and modifications, includes Transmission and Substation studies.
- Complete loading evaluation of the electric system and analyzes load duration curves to determine the level of risk for T, S and D. Perform budgetary and cost studies as required.
Qualifications:
- PE License, Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in Transmission, Distribution, or Power Generation industry.
- Previous experience with Protection & Control design concepts including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring, etc.
- 5 years of experience in development of protective relay settings.
- Prior experience with commonly utilized system modeling software programs (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, etc.).
- NERC-PRC standards and other commonly utilized industry standards.
- Knowledge of the predominant protection schemes and philosophies which are encountered in Transmission, Distribution, and Renewable Collector Substations.
- Experience with Mathcad and Excel software for protective setting calculations.
- Familiarity with commonly utilized communication protocols (DNP, SEL, MMS, Modbus, etc.).
- Ability to identify system deficiencies and develop a cost effective solution for executive or management approval and implementation.
- Ability to lead some projects including management of project schedules, budgets, and staffing.
