POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Estimating Intern is to support our project teams in the development of accurate budgets and estimates from program through guaranteed maximum price.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with the entire preconstruction team in various capacities
  2. Assist estimating team with quantity take-offs
  3. Interpret and accurately compare contractor proposals through detailed bid analysis sheet
  4. Contact and maintain relations with trade partners for current market pricing
  5. Assist in maintaining historical cost database and subcontractor database
  6. Maintain good working knowledge of current unit costs and building costs/sf
  7. Navigate and utilize information contained in building models
  8. Participate in active project site visits

LEARNING GOALS:

  1. Understanding of estimating methodologies (uniformat, masterformat, omniclass)
  2. Ability to perform quantity surveys
  3. Ability to draft introductory scope sheets
  4. Understanding of preconstruction design phases and estimating approaches
  5. Understanding of how to coordinate scope with subcontractors

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field
  2. Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  3. Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline
  4. Knowledge of materials, methods, and processes
  5. Ability to assume responsibility and interface well with Project Team
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  7. Team orientation
  8. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete numerous projects in a timely manner
