Job Summary and QualificationsWhat will you do in this role:
- Draw blood from ports, central lines, and peripheral IV access. Perform other procedures as needed.
- Assist Physicians; conduct patient assessments.
- Maintain patient care standards and assures that patient care functions, such as assessment, treatment and documentation are completed safely and effectively.
- Initiate and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol.
- Follows established oncology protocols to maintain clean and safe working environments. Safeguards self and others against the hazards of toxic drugs, disposes of hazardous waste according to approved protocol.
- Delivers chemotherapy in accordance with prescribed protocols and NECS guidelines.
- Performs injections and IV therapy (IV starts, PICC line/Port Access) utilizing aseptic technique.
- Calculate/verify AUC dosing, CrCl, IVIG dosing.
- Operate infusion pumps.
- Perform therapeutic phlebotomy in accordance with physician orders.
- Evaluate lab data in conjunction with the provider to provide appropriate care to the patient.
- Provide patient education at chairside regarding therapies patient is receiving.
- Evaluate side effects and toxicities of therapy and provide for their management.
Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required. Licensed RN within the State of New Hampshire.
ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certification required within 6 (six) months of hire
Two years plus RN experience required
Oncology Certification Nurse OCN certification required within 1 (one) year of hire or when eligible based on ONCC criteria
INS required within 2 (two) years of hire or when eligible based on INS criteria
Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
