New York NY United States Tbwa ChiatDay Inc Full time

Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.

Headway was founded in 2019. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 34,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software. We’re a Series D company with over $325m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation.

We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.

About data at Headway

Building a new mental healthcare system at Headway is only possible because of the insights and leverage that data can provide. The data team at Headway spans across the organization, from working with team leads to define KPIs and dig deep into data that enable better decision-making to building machine learning systems to power our product - helping identify and drive areas for improvement, educating the company on data and how to become more data-driven, and solving the mental healthcare industry’s most challenging problems.

Functions of data at Headway:
  • Data Analytics deploys an understanding of our business and delivers insights to operate it more effectively.
  • Data Engineering : engineers the data infrastructure needed for analytics and data science.
  • Product Analytics : understands how users interact with our product so we can deliver better user experiences.
  • Data Science : delivers data as a product to power core elements of the Headway experience.
About the role

We are seeking Product Analysts to join our growing Data team. As a member of our Data team, you'll be responsible for the growing analytics and insights needs across the organization. You’ll work with product team leads to instrument, collect, visualize and interpret data that enables better decision-making through a deeper understanding of our business and customers. You’ll also help build deep partnerships between the Data team and the rest of the organization through analysis and other tools to empower various business stakeholders. If you are a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and challenging problems, excited about building a data-driven culture, and motivated by making an impact, then you will be a great fit for this role.

You will:
  • Become a trusted strategic partner to our product and engineering teams, and work with them to define analytics requirements, identify important questions, design and implement experiments, and help answer critical questions to drive strategy with data.
  • Use data to understand trends in user behavior and product usage to influence strategy, product ideation, and drive experimentation.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and stakeholders across the company to model data in a scalable way and present it in an impactful and digestible way that leads to better business decisions.
  • Tell compelling stories through data, articulating technical information to a non-technical audience.
What will make you successful:
  • 6+ years of experience using data to solve real-world problems and drive decision-making within engineering, product or growth teams.
  • 4+ years of experience at a high-growth technology startup.
  • Opinions about product analytics, a track record of building or driving product analytics rigor, and an understanding how your product recommendations drive business outcomes.
  • High proficiency with SQL, and tools for data analysis.
  • Experience developing tests and predictive analytics, synthesizing results, and building frameworks and data models to make data-informed launch decisions.
  • Inherent curiosity and analytical follow-through - you can’t help but ask “why?” and love using data and logic to explore potential solutions.
  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and identify opportunities with limited oversight.
  • Exceptional data storytelling abilities, as well as the ability to articulate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Operating in a team-first environment with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • You are motivated by our mission. We are working to solve the biggest problems in mental health care today (access and affordability).
