Contractor Quality Control Systems Manager

Job Description

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

· Review, understand, enhance and execute Corporate Quality Program on $20-million commercial renovation and construction project.

·    Chair and document weekly meetings with the Owners’ Representatives and Superintendent.

·    Utilizing US Army Corps of Engineers program RMS3.0 (or newer), provide written Daily QC Reports reinforcing activities in construction and assuring conformance with each specific project's established standard.

·    Create, update and maintain the submittal register, transmittals and submittals, Features of Work, RFIs, and all other project-specific quality control reports in RMS.

·    Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with contract documentation.

·    Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of quality required for each definable feature of work. Confirm special inspection report forms are being used and signed off prior to the placement of concrete, steel and other similar items of work.

·    Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, Buy American Act and other pertinent contract documents.

·    Understand and coordinate project schedule requirements.

·    Conduct periodic follow-up inspections to verify that work is proceeding with the contract documents and the approved submittals.

·    Document Contractor QC Inspections, Government Pre-final, and Government Final inspections to include confirmed back-checked punchlists with signed acceptance of compliance.

·    Manages the quality control staff and all specialty subcontractor inspection entities to ensure all disciplines are in compliance with applicable owner/architect and contract specifications, codes, regulations and requirements.

·    Function as the primary point of contact and liaison with the Contract Administrator for all quality control related issues.

·    Implements and/or manages the keeping of all quality control records and ensures that required reporting is accomplished.

·    Develops and maintains Non-Conformance Log and works with Superintendent, foremen and subcontractors to ensure timely corrective actions properly correct the deficiency.

·    Complete monthly updates of red-line drawings as part of monthly billing process.

·    Assists Site Safety and Health Officer to implement and aggressively enforce safety program and practices to create a safe and healthy work environment.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·    Current Certification in US Army Corps of Engineers Contractor Quality Management course.

·    5+ years’ experience as a Quality Control Manager in a heavy and commercial construction environment, preferred experience with MILCON Design-Build on large-scale contracts.

·    Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from accredited program(s) in architecture, engineering, or construction management with 5-years’ construction experience. Construction experience shall be gained from working on MILCON renovation projects comparable to 25,000+ square feet, $10-million+ commercial building.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS and RELATABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Former Air Force Civil Engineer/Red Horse, Army Combat Engineers/Corps of Engineers or Navy SeaBees/Facilities Command Senior or Junior Non-Commissioned Officer or Officer with civilian construction/contractor experience on MILCON projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hr Construction Safety certification.
  • Fluid in MS Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, TEAMs
  • Knowledgeable and experienced using RMS
  • P-6 scheduling experience.
  • Experience with EPA and/or Alaska Department of Environmental Compliance (State-level) environmental policies and procedures related to construction.
  • AutoDesk CAD, Revit and BIM working knowledge and experience.
