About the Role:

The Associate Estimator I is responsible for various tasks in developing cost estimates for transmission and substation work. The Associate Estimator will be a part of our extensive training program to help develop these skills.

Essential Functions

  1. Prepare/assist in preparing complete cost estimates for assigned projects for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
  2. Plan and execute work while meeting customer-defined submission deadlines.
  3. Schedule and attend field job walks with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements.
  4. Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits, which may require overnight stays.
  5. Perform/assist in performing take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
  6. Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, including assembly and distribution of project documentation into RFQ/RFP packages.
  7. Understand construction and electrical drawings to accurately formulate an estimate.
  8. Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency.
  9. Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimates.
  11. Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders.
  12. Participate in job close-out meetings at the end of a project to finalize the estimating process.
  13. Regular and predictable attendance.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, with an emphasis on Excel. Good time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Team player mentality.
