This role will work entirely in Electrophysiology
PEAK is an education resource provided to eligible caregivers in partnership with InStride , a global provider of enterprise education programs. Through PEAK, Intermountain offers tuition coverage for more than one hundred online learning options, including undergraduate studies, professional courses and certifications, high school diplomas, and English language learning. All courses included in PEAK are online.
Through PEAK, Intermountain will pay tuition up front so caregivers won't have to worry about paying with their own money and then receiving reimbursement later.
Develops specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
Assists in inventory control.
Assesses the condition of the patient, documents it, and informs the physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
Understands and demonstrates the correct operation of imaging equipment.
Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech, according to cath lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
May mix and administer some medications under the direction and supervision of the physician.
Performs point of care testing and QA.
Develops skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures.
Complete procedure data entry; Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) -OR- Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program -OR- G raduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) -OR- G raduate of a non-programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology which has a minimum of one year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours. Intermediate computer skills.
Current license, where applicable, Registered Respiratory Therapist program, 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience, RN degree.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
- Advanced Electrophysiology only:
Fulfills role of first assist and scrubs a minimum of 50 Electrophysiology and device procedures per year.
