Description:

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated scientist to join our growing team and conduct in vivo studies for drug discovery. In close collaboration with our machine learning team, the experiments you design and the data you provide will also be used to train state-of-the-art machine learning models. Your hands-on experience with in vivo studies (e.g., target engagement, PK/PD, in vivo efficacy, metabolic biomarker measurement) for antibody and biologics characterization using a variety of techniques is needed. With your enthusiasm and teamwork, you will have the chance to learn and collaborate with other bench scientists and with machine learning scientists (dry-lab) as part of our multi-disciplinary approach to discover and develop precision engineered drug candidates. This is an on-site role. Flexible working hours to promote a balance between productivity and wellness can be accommodated with manager approval.


Responsibilities:

  • Executing diverse in vivo experiments (glucose metabolism, behavioral assays, muscle physiology, or similar) and managing necessary animal welfare requirements.
  • Flexibly learn and contribute for a variety of in vivo metabolic disease model for screening and characterization of candidate molecules.
  • Assist in writing in vivo study protocols, coordinating, and initiating preclinical studies in CROs.
  • Analyze and present data and conclusions to colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Contribute to building and establishing the In Vivo Pharmacology laboratory capabilities.
  • Help teach colleagues as part of building a collaborative team.


About You:

  • BSc with 5-10 years or MSc with 3-5 years industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with preclinical models of metabolic diseases is preferred.
  • Previous experience in antibody and biologics discovery is a plus.
  • Experience with animal model development in metabolic diseases area and establishment of ex vivo assays to measure metabolic disease biomarker.
  • Hands-on experience administering drug treatments through various routes (e.g. i.v., i.p., SQ, PO dosing).
  • Hands-on experience collecting blood and harvesting animal tissues from mice for downstream analysis.
  • Understand and execute in vivo study protocols, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements for compliance with IACUC guidelines.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular, cellular, and ex vivo biological techniques and assays such as ELISA, western blot, and glucose measurement.
  • Troubleshooting methodological and technical issues, interpreting experimental data and literature, and communicating results to diverse groups of individuals.
  • Computer literacy, especially proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and electronic notebook.
  • Analyze experimental data and document them in detail using an electronic notebook.
  • Strong sense of initiative and interest in learning new technologies and addressing disease-relevant biology.
  • Enjoy collaborating with diverse scientists in both the wet-lab and dry-lab.
