Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant will provide essential support to healthcare providers by performing both clinical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a caring demeanor, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced medical environment. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for examination, including taking vital signs, medical histories, and performing basic diagnostic tests.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a high level of comfort and care.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians, following proper protocols.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for further testing if needed.
- Update and maintain patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits.
- Handle patient inquiries, provide education on treatment plans, and assist with insurance and billing questions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including infection control procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate s degree in Medical Assisting or a related field preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or certification as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA) preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical or clinical setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and office practices.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems and basic office software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- CPR certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
