Summary

The Applications Development Analyst (Advanced) role requires a versatile professional capable of handling advanced development tasks, cloud migration, technical support, and integration of applications across departments. The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in ColdFusion, SQL, object-oriented programming, cloud technologies, and team leadership. The candidate will contribute to enhancing client's application landscape by promoting best practices, staying abreast of emerging technologies, and offering technical guidance across the organization.


Primary Deliverables/Tasks

The contractor’s responsibilities encompass a wide range of advanced development and support tasks, which include:

  1. Cloud Migration: Assisting with the migration of existing code to cloud platforms.
  2. Design Recommendations: Providing strategic design recommendations to align with long-term IT goals.
  3. Application Development: Creating enterprise-level applications and custom integrations, including major system enhancements and features.
  4. Automation and System Integration: Developing automated systems across multiple platforms to meet customer needs and integrating applications within client.
  5. Complex Software Solutions: Determining requirements, planning, designing, and developing critical software solutions, either independently or as part of a team.
  6. Technical Support: Assisting in resolving complex technical support issues.
  7. Programming Standards and Code Reuse: Establishing and following standards for development and promoting code reuse.
  8. Programming and Object-Oriented Techniques: Utilizing modern programming languages and object-oriented approaches for design, coding, testing, and debugging.
  9. Application Development Methodologies: Applying best practices and modern development methodologies consistently.
  10. Research and Emerging Technologies: Staying up-to-date with new technologies and assessing their potential use within the organization.
  11. Code Reviews: Conducting code reviews as needed to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  12. Technical Expertise and Mentorship: Acting as a technical consultant, mentor, and change agent across multiple disciplines within client.

2. Staff Qualifications and Performance Criteria

The contractor and assigned staff are expected to bring specialized skills and experience, particularly in complex software development and cloud migration. Key qualifications include:

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  2. ColdFusion Development Experience: At least 5 years of experience in design and development with ColdFusion.
  3. Technical Skills:
  • JavaScript, Oracle, and SQL Server: Experience working with these technologies in an N-tier architecture.
  • Solaris and Bash Shell Scripting: Proficiency in Solaris and Bash for scripting needs.
  1. Cloud Development: Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud development.
  2. Object-Oriented Development: Strong background in object-oriented development techniques.
  3. Database Expertise: Knowledge and experience in database design and development, particularly with Oracle and SQL Server, along with SQL tuning skills.
  4. Leadership Experience: Previous experience as a project leader or in a technical expert/lead role, with involvement in high-complexity projects.
  5. Development Methodologies: Proficiency in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  6. Deployment and Troubleshooting: Experience supporting production deployments and handling deployment-related troubleshooting.
  7. Incident Management and Estimation: Involvement in Incident Full Kit (IFK) meetings to refine product backlogs and estimate work for incidents.
  8. Azure DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps for version control, collaboration, and continuous integration.
