Organization: Pharmacy Billing

Job Summary:

Provides expert leadership in the planning, coordination and direction of pharmacy services throughout VUMC inpatient, outpatient and specialty areas. Responsible for the overall performance of the department to maintain and exceed recognized national standards based on accepted patient and health system metrics. Responsible for the clinical and financial impact of pharmacy services, customer satisfaction, and development and education of staff and adherence to acceptance standards of practice regarding research involving pharmaceuticals.

Manages and supports the review and utilization of high cost therapies overseen by the ERT Subcommittee. The pharmacist would provide the following services with each ERT request:

  1. Literature review, as needed
  2. Collaborate with requesting service on ERT-specific consent form
  3. Create and submit draft ERT subcommittee response
  4. Collaborate with ERT Subcommittee members on each case
  5. Communicate with requestor, pharmacy leadership, finance, and hospital president
  6. Ensure financial approval and administration approval before communicating to requestor
  7. Assess effectiveness of the ERT process and make recommendations for improvement

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides direction, oversight, and coordination of pharmacy services.
  2. Maintains financial supervision of the program.
  3. Develops drug cost containment strategies for institution.
  4. Provides leadership in quality and performance improvement of pharmacy services.

  6. Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Expert): Demonstrates expert knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations as they apply to the organization.
