The Project:
Mace is seeking a full-time senior cost manager for life science, tenant improvement and industrial manufacturing projects to work directly with our clients on capital projects, tenant improvements and real estate fit out projects.

Client Focus - Deliver on Our Promise:
  • You will manage cost planning including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You will manage the procurement process, ensuring stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • You will support the delivery of cost management services to deliver key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
  • Serving as a client-facing senior cost consultant lead who assists with strategic, tactical, and technical advice.
  • Managing and growing cost management teams or accounts.
  • Interfacing with clients, external and internal consultants at all project stages.
  • Reviewing front end engineering design (FEED), procurement and supply chain long lead equipment, execute (construction and commissioning) project budgets.
  • Participating in project risk reviews, providing qualitative and quantitative cost inputs.
  • Attending to project phase /stage gate peer reviews providing cost controls lessons learned.
  • create baseline spending plan (planned value).
  • Day to day cost management of medium-large scale client projects including procurement, pay requests, change management and cost reporting.
  • Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project involving existing protocols and systems.
  • Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Supporting the procurement process, performing bid levelling and ensuring that all stages including, pre-qualification, enquiry, evaluation, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • Ensuring that post contract cost variances, change control, cost checking and valuation processes are managed effectively.
  • Delivering accurate, informative, well organised documentation.

  • You will manage other cost consultant to identify and execute opportunities that improve cost management procedures, templates and products to enhance services provided to stakeholders.
You'll Need to Have:
  • Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
  • Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) and moving towards fellowship, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Demonstrated capital programme leadership experience.
You'll Also Have:
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Proven record working on a large complex and multi-phase life science.
  • Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Experience of managing parts of projects within large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
