Job Overview

CRA’s Finance practice helps our clients with high-profile, complex financial markets litigation. Typically, we are retained to quantify economic damages or to provide expertise about the structure, standards, and practices of financial markets. Our work often requires the development of fact-specific financial models to help our clients effectively resolve disputes involving valuation issues (shareholder class actions and other corporate valuation disputes), as well as matters regarding the functioning of financial markets and institutions (alleged market manipulation and insider trading). The analyses are summarized in the form of an expert report, which sets forth our conclusory opinions (including the underlying analytical support for those opinions) in court.

Associate Principals work closely with senior consultants on project teams. Successful candidates have a strong working knowledge of financial, accounting, and economic concepts and a range of research and quantitative skills. A typical Associate Principal would:

  1. Independently conceptualize and identify issues, designing complex economic and financial models to analyze economic and financial data;
  2. Manage and delegate work to project teams, including Senior Associates recently hired directly out of PhD and other post-graduate degree programs and junior staff without post-graduate degrees;
  3. Guide programming, model building and/or regression analysis in statistical analysis programs (such as Stata, SAS, R or Python);
  4. Draw conclusions and generate insights for leading academics and senior leaders based on models and data analysis;
  5. Draft and present client deliverables including expert reports summarizing our opinions, conclusions, and recommendations and third-party financial, market, and industry data;
  6. Interact directly with clients (attorneys, industry professionals, and government entities) on a variety of finance, accounting, and economics issues;
  7. Assist regulators and financial institutions with analysis of trading on exchanges and in OTC markets for a wide spectrum of contracts;
  8. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of economic analyses and opinions;
  9. Facilitate internal and client meetings (when appropriate) with effective communication;
  10. Supervise and coach junior analysts;
  11. Assist with practice development activities (mentoring, training, recruiting, thought leadership);
  12. Identify and raise potential project revenue opportunities to senior staff.


Qualifications

  1. PhD in Finance, Accounting or Business Economics, with at least 3 years of post-PhD work experience;
  2. Solid working knowledge of finance, accounting, and economic methodologies;
  3. Command of a broad range of research and quantitative analysis skills;
  4. Curious and analytic thinkers who bring creative approaches to non-standard problems;
  5. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, experience teaching is considered a plus;
  6. Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
