This position is a great opportunity to create cloud based machine control and monitoring applications that interface with currently working industrial equipment through a PLC, OPC, or other communications protocols common in Industry 4.0. You’ll be using your knowledge of process control, safety protocols and manufacturing automation to create safe, reliable, intuitive, and informative applications for different types of machinery. This role will require critical thinking skills as well as excellent communication as you partner and support internal and external customers.

Duties unique to this role:

  • 80% of your time will be used to design, build, and test machine control, monitoring, and machine data analysis applications within Appward™.
  • 20% of your time will be used for writing diverse set of documentation and training (when needed)
  • Writes effective, efficient, and easy to read business logic that runs great.
  • Wireframes intuitive and great looking UIs and takes those ideas all the way into production.
  • Has a good understanding of MSSQL/MySQL and ability to create complex and efficient queries.
  • Interfaces with PLCs, HMIs and some communications protocols within Industry 4.0 (OPC for example) in order to facilitate machine control and monitoring operations
  • Build responsive mobile versions of our machine monitoring applications for our customers who are on the go.
  • Identifies areas needing improvement from code written by other app developers and has the ability to provide guidance for improvement

Some more specific duties:

  • You’ll be building solutions, using Appward™, with user interfaces for almost every app build, so an eye for detail and intuition for simplicity is key. We expect great UX, nothing less.
  • Must be customer centric. Always starting with the customer and working backwards. This is critical for success in this position.
  • You will be responsible for your projects, deadlines, and quality of the deliverables.
  • Use critical and analytical thinking skills to solve problems in creative ways. Develop efficient methods for accomplishing tasks independently and also within a team setting.
  • Be able to understand and follow expectations and specifications on product and delivery. Escalate concerns promptly and be ready with proposals to dismantle any roadblocks.
  • Be a self-starter and resourceful to lead and make progress in assigned projects in timely manner and at times independently.
  • Collaborating with customers for either support or demonstrating of new rolled out features.
  • Creates and contributes to training documentation for Appward end-users and App developers within the Appward platform using the Articles app.

Qualifications:

  • 2 + years of work experience in developing, testing, and commissioning automated manufacturing equipment
  • 2 + years of experience working with PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems in general.
  • 1 + years of experience in Industry communications protocols such as TCP/IP, OPC UA, OPC AE, OPC HDA
  • Good experience in understanding and executing efficient queries using SQL.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM field with strong software inclination towards Computer, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, or similar collaboration tools, to channel communication and work.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.
  • Have a go-getter and can-do attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL (MSSQL Preferred).
  • Experience developing applications for process controls operations Thermal processes, such as autoclaves, ovens, and presses is a plus.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and their suite of software packages (Studio 5000, RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500 etc)
  • Experience designing and building HMI screens.
  • Experience building and maintaining Ladder Logic, reading I/O, including electrical control diagrams.
  • 3+ Years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
