The Opportunity…

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of a comprehensive housing and climate resiliency program. The program aims to upgrade 25 eligible homes, with a combination of improvements that will reduce air pollution, increase renewable energy usage to lower utility bills, and eliminate housing hazards to improve the safety, health, and quality of life for families, children, and seniors.

The Project Manager will oversee all phases of the program, including site assessments, contractor management, stakeholder coordination, budget tracking, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of the housing upgrades. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of managing complex projects in the fields of construction, housing, and/or climate resiliency.

  • Air Purifier
  • Lead Remediation
  • Asbestos Remediation
  • Xeriscaping
  • Wall Gardens

***This is a contracted role for three years with the potential to renew depending on availability of funding.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management:

  • Coordinate the integration of housing upgrades, including electrical panel upgrades, solar panel installations, weatherization improvements, and hazard remediations.
  • Lead the execution of the housing and climate resiliency program, including establishing and maintaining a program management database (e.g. AirTable or Asana).
  • Manage the full lifecycle of each housing upgrade project, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Sub-Contractor Oversight:

  • Hire, orient, and oversee contractors to perform residential housing upgrades.
  • Manage contracts, ensure compliance with regulations, and resolve any issues that arise on job sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with homeowners, contractors, and funding agencies to ensure the smooth execution of the program.
  • Communicate regularly with families to ensure their understanding of the upgrades being performed and how to maintain the improvements.

Budget & Compliance Management:

  • Manage overall program budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and use of resources.
  • Monitor program expenses, report on budget variances, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Ensure all projects meet applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Track and report program progress, including milestones, completion rates, and project outcomes.
  • Maintain detailed records of all housing assessments, contracts, upgrade installations, and family communications.
  • Gather information from project partners and prepare reports for funders and grant administrators on program outcomes and impact.

What you need to bring to this role...

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing residential construction, housing upgrades, or climate resiliency projects, including overseeing contractors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of housing and energy upgrades, such as electrical, solar, weatherization, and hazard remediation.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
  • Familiarity with environmental and health regulations, including lead and asbestos remediation.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and vulnerable populations, including seniors and low-income families.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including scheduling and coordination.
  • Ability to manage a large budget and track spending efficiently.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.

It would be great if you also had...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience with renewable energy or climate resiliency programs.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with AirTable, Asana or other project management software.

Where you will sit and the places you may go…

This position is on-site and may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.


GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position contracted for 3 years looking to start in November 2024. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($68k-$93k annually) , plus the benefits below.
