Purpose: The Rail Production Supervisor leads a team by modeling behavior that supports Crystal Clean business and ethical standards. The Rail Production Supervisor works safely and compliantly in all aspects and functions, with a focus on those pertaining to any regulations of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The Rail Production Supervisor is accountable to establish expectations and motivate their team to assess, understand, and control personal and process safety risks through compliance with procedures and process systems. Additionally, they are accountable for creating and nurturing a culture of teamwork, learning, communication, and integrity.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Adhere to all Crystal Clean policies and standards including environmental, regulatory, human resources, facility, equipment, operations, and maintenance
  • Participate and develop team in PSM Elements
  • Interact effectively and professionally with teammates at all levels
  • Communicate effectively across all formats (i.e. Teams, Outlook, OneNote, etc)
  • Promote thorough shift notes using established systems (i.e. Teams, OneNote, TrackVia, etc)
  • Ensure deliverables are executed in a safe and timely manner
  • Maintain housekeeping standards (general and compliance)
  • Maintain relationship with Maintenance Department through work order management, prioritization and equipment troubleshooting regarding the rail area.
  • Promote ownership of equipment and sets expectations for care of equipment
  • Execute Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) standards for work in the rail area
  • Issue Safe Work Permits for work in the rail area
  • Rail production (inspection, loading, unloading, repairs)
  • Rail movement planning
  • Train, coach, and evaluate members of the team through both day-to-day interactions and 1 on 1 meetings

Other Responsibilities

  • Receive additional training to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Adjust work schedules as required to achieve production and maintenance plans
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Specific Skills

  • Proficient mathematical and mechanical reasoning skills
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bulk loading and unloading experience
  • FRA or Rail car inspection (i.e. CSX) experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years - railcar and tanker loading/unloading experience required
  • Minimum 5 years - railcar and tanker inspection, repair, or audit experience required
  • Supervisory or Lead experience preferred

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Designations or Memberships

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator, steel toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat and any other PPE that may be required.
