Position Overview: Wise Enterprise is seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional to provide comprehensive mental health services to individuals in the Richmond, Virginia area. Applicants must be currently registered with the Virginia Board of Counselors and Department of Health Professions. Assistance with the registration process is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain case records in compliance with licensing and Medicaid standards.
  • Complete daily progress notes during school hours using BIRP (Behavior, Intervention, Response, Plan) formatting.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all clients receiving services.
  • Coordinate, develop, and implement Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) for assigned clients.
  • Provide quarterly updates on client progress toward treatment goals, including discharge planning and summaries.
  • Conduct team meetings to incorporate all relevant input into ISP development.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, person-centered psychosocial and psychoeducational skill-building interventions to assist clients in achieving their treatment goals.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group counseling sessions based on approved credentials and expertise.
  • Provide individual and family sessions to address specific treatment goals.
  • Document all treatment-related activities, including phone calls, weekly family contacts, and care coordination efforts.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with affiliated case professionals, such as school staff, criminal/juvenile justice systems, social services, managed care organizations (MCOs), and other mental health providers on a weekly basis.
  • Provide formal case updates and presentations to professionals in various settings, including Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT), Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and court proceedings.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed case records and documentation according to licensing and Medicaid standards.
  • Expertise in using BIRP formatting for daily progress notes.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centered counseling techniques and psychosocial interventions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including schools, criminal justice systems, and social services.
  • Skill in developing and implementing Individualized Service Plans and treatment goals.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and documentation responsibilities.
  • Experience in conducting individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of confidentiality and ethical practices in mental health settings.
  • Capable of handling crisis situations and providing immediate interventions when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related human services field is required.
  • Must be registered with the Virginia Department of Health Professions as either a Qualified Mental Health Professional - Child (QMHP-C) or a Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP-T).
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required if using personal or company vehicle for work-related travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in mental health, social services, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid documentation standards and experience with the Medicaid system.
  • Training or certification in trauma-informed care practices.
