Basic Life Research Scientist

Established in 1996, the Stanford University Transgenic, Knockout and Tumor model Center (TKTC) produces transgenic animal models for different fields and applications. TKTC provides specialist skills and resources for the production, storage and use of genetically modified mouse lines. To generate transgenic mouse lines, TKTC uses the most updated technologies including Crispr and Integrase Mediated Transgenesis (IMT). TKTC also engages in new technology development and creative pioneer studies.
Stanford University TKTC is seeking a highly motivated Basic Life Research Scientist who will be a key member of TKTC’s transgenic mouse team.
This is a Two Year, Renewable Position.
The scientist will be responsible for the:
- Design of transgenic mouse models.
- Performance of mouse pronuclear microinjection.
- Mouse embryo electroporation and subsequent genotyping.
- Recording and analysis of experiment data that will be used for troubleshooting and/or publications and/or presentations in pertinent research accomplishments.
- Maintenance of timely communication with the primary investigator (PI) to provide updates on all scientific projects.
- Exploration of new techniques to adapt to TKTC.
- Updates to standard operating procedures.
- Contributions to new technology development.
The scientist will be part of the TKTC team, have strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and be a team player.
CORE DUTIES:
- 50% - Develop genotyping strategy through the generation of mouse genome edited models that includes is but not limited to: mouse embryo manipulation using microinjection and electroporation, embryos implantation, and genotyping.
- 20% - Provide consultation and design of genome edited model, communicate with researchers to update and report the project status.
- 20% - Data recording and analysis for troubleshooting.
- 10% - Literature reading and new technology development.

REQUIRED:
- A Ph.D in Biology Science with 2 or more years of experience.
- In-depth familiarity in genome editing.
- Molecular biology skills (cloning and genotyping etc.).
- Excellent skills of small animal surgery.
- Transgenic mouse generation experience.
DESIRED:
- Mouse embryo microinjection.
- Crispr technology experience.
