Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC (GPS) is seeking a highly qualified Medical Epidemiologist SME to join our team, supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. This position involves providing advanced health communication, technical, and scientific support for vaccine-preventable diseases, contributing to the development of health education strategies, training materials, and research protocols.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Health Communication and Education
    • Design and implement innovative health education strategies to improve vaccine-preventable disease education for diverse populations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
    • Review and revise training materials to incorporate adult learning principles, utilizing modern instructional media, including web-based platforms and self-study tools.
    • Develop educational curricula for healthcare professionals, collaborating with grantees, federal agencies, and external partners.
  • Research and Scientific Support
    • Provide technical support for vaccine improvement and implementation projects, including protocol development, data management, and compliance reviews across multiple countries.
    • Analyze program performance data to assess the effectiveness of vaccine initiatives, presenting findings in reports, tables, and graphs.
    • Develop and revise study protocols and data collection instruments, ensuring consistency with CDC IRB and OMB requirements.
  • Scientific Writing and Technical Guidance
    • Lead revisions of critical guidance documents, such as the Interim Clinical Considerations (iCC), incorporating input from CDC SMEs, FDA, and ACIP.
    • Monitor changes in vaccine-preventable diseases and recommend updates to health education content and program implementation.
    • Draft responses to vaccine-related inquiries from healthcare providers and the public via platforms like NIP-INFO.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation
    • Coordinate health education activities with CDC personnel, grantees, and peer organizations to ensure effective implementation of prevention strategies.
    • Provide consultation on training arrangements, syllabus editing, and instructional design, serving as a liaison between program managers and CORVD.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of public health principles, vaccine-preventable diseases, and immunization practices.
  • Strong expertise in health communication strategies, adult learning methodologies, and curriculum development.
  • Experience with clinical guidance development, regulatory processes, and multi-agency collaborations.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting health service research and evaluation data.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills for scientific and educational materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in medicine, public health, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in public health, immunization, or vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Demonstrated expertise in vaccine education, health communication, and scientific research.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working with CDC.
  • Familiarity with advanced instructional design and health education technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
