Role Description

The Director of Development is a key leadership position responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support Petra Cares’ mission and programs. This role involves working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other team members to identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and other partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual and long-term fundraising plan, including setting goals, strategies, and timelines.
  • Identify new fundraising opportunities and innovative approaches to generate revenue.
  • Donor Relations and Stewardship:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement donor recognition programs and strategies to enhance donor retention and engagement.

  • Grant Management:
  • Research and identify grant opportunities from government, foundation, and corporate sources.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, and manage reporting and compliance requirements for awarded grants.
  • Event Planning and Management:
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including galas, auctions, and other special events, to raise funds and increase community awareness.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, and volunteer coordination.
  • Communications and Marketing:
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, social media content, and donor appeals.
  • Represent Petra Cares at community events, meetings, and other public forums to promote the organization's mission and initiatives.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of donor contributions, contact information, and engagement activities using the organization's donor management system.
  • Analyze fundraising data and prepare regular reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, development, or related roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, practices, and ethics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
