Stanford University is seeking an Academic Program Professional 1 to work under the direction of faculty and other research program management to implement and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the assigned academic entity/program(s). This is an exciting position within the School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and will function as part of a research team within the Basic Science and Engineering (BASE) Program of the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center. One major component of this position will be acting as Project Manager for a Collaborative Sciences Award that is funded by Additional Ventures and the American Heart Association and involves multiple laboratories.

Duties include:

  1. Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating academic programs, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and coordinating and implementing changes.
  2. Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.
  3. Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities under the general direction of PI. Assist with the development of research grants, (i.e., may suggest new funding opportunities, write portions of grants, and/or summarize data for grant support).
  4. Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences. Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.

Other duties may also be assigned.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $88,861.00 to $102,254.00.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD or Master’s degree in the biomedical sciences desired. Program administration experience preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

PhD Level or Graduate degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  1. Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  2. Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  1. Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.
