Job SummaryThe Giant Eagle Intern Development Program is designed to provide college/university students with real world business experience in a Giant Eagle or Market District location. This full-time, paid internship will provide hands-on training and experience in running a retail, grocery business, managing and leading teams, and providing a Guest-first approach. Throughout the 10-week internship, you will spend your days learning to lead and motivate a team, drive sales results, merchandise products, and provide an exceptional experience for our Guests. At the conclusion of your internship, you will have the exciting opportunity to join us for a second year in a Retail Shared Services (corporate) department that falls within your area of study or as an elevated retail intern. Job DescriptionExperience Required: 0 to 6 months; Strong proficiency in MS Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel & Outlook; Excellent work record;Experience Desired: Previous retail experienceEducation Desired: At least 1 year of college or higher educationLifting Requirement: Up to 25 poundsTravel Required: Regional - Daily, 10 - 25%; Regional - Overnight, Less than 10%Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Giant Eagle intern no two days are the same, but a typical day may include the following:Spend time shadowing the store leader and department leadersLead through daily prioritiesPartner with leader to learn more about coaching and trainingWork with leadership to set goals and expectationsCollaborate with fellow retail leadership interns on projectsDeliver an excellent Guest experienceWork with leaders to understand business reporting and Guest insightsActively participate in internship training activities, development opportunities, and eventsFoster a safe, diverse, and inclusive cultureCarry out specific duties as assignedWalking the store and engaging with Team Members and GuestsAbout UsAt Giant Eagle Inc., we’re more than just food.
