POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a normal load. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. Course assignments may be early morning, late afternoon, evening, Saturday, summer, and at branch campuses or satellite centers including some classes that may include outdoor activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Key responsibilities: coordinate EMS program, advise EMS/fire students and teach EMR/EMT courses.
2.Instruct entry-level fire science and related specialty classes as needed.
3.Work with fire science program coordinator to assess/revise curricula as necessary.
4.Oversee EMS fulltime and adjunct faculty, including hiring, training, evaluation and discipline.
5.Oversee purchase, maintenance and inventory of EMS program equipment in conjunction with department equipment specialist.
6.As a faculty advisor, use knowledge of IDPH guidelines and OSFM certifications to provide seamless matriculation or registration experience for both prospective and current students.
7.Facilitate course development, revision, and accreditation as necessary to improve program.
8.Regularly compile statistics regarding retention and completion, as well as stakeholder satisfaction.
9.Participate in departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on college and local committees.
10.Utilize statistics, research and data to compile budgets, annual program reviews and other reports required by college, accreditors, and government agencies.
11.Act as liaison between college and paramedic program partners including collaboration on curriculum, facilities, equipment and student issues.
12.Act as dual credit liaison for EMS/fire students at local high school career centers and organize opportunities for those students to acquaint themselves with JJC prior to graduation.
13.Act as a contact for overall JJC Nursing, Health and Public Service Division, as well as a content expert for the JJC EMS/ Fire Science program, for industry, schools, individuals and organizations.
14.Participate in recruitment events both on and off campus.
15.Participate on advisory boards or organizations related to the program.
16.Assist in program budget preparation.
17.Collaborate with other Nursing, Health and Public Service programs in the best interest of the college.
18.Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelors in EMS/Fire admin, Public Health, Education or related; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
2.Current IDPH paramedic or PHRN license.
3.Current Illinois OSFM BOF or FFII certification.
4.Minimum five (5) years fulltime firefighter/paramedic experience (department or contract).
5.Experience in EMS classroom instruction in college, fire/EMS agency or hospital setting.
6.IDPH licensed (NAEMSE) EMS Lead Instructor I by six months after hire.
7.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction
8.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
9.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
10.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master's Degree in Health, EMS, fire, education or related field.
2.Experience with developing and coordinating an EMS education program or curricula.
3.Familiarity with IDPH regulations/procedures regarding EMS education programs and site codes.
4.Familiarity with fire/EMS agencies in the college district.
5.OSFM Fire Instructor I or higher
6.Current Class B non-CDL license and knowledge of basic fire apparatus operations.
7.College teaching experience, particularly in a community college.
8.Experience in college course development, assessment, planning, accreditation and committee service.
9.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
10.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
11.Demonstrated multicultural competence.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Standard classroom equipment and software.
2.Standard pre-hospital and hospital equipment and PPE.
3.Standard structural firefighting apparatus, equipment and PPE.
4.Must be able to lift minimum 35 lbs unassisted.
5.Must comfortably act as patient/crew for hands-on assessment and basic fire suppression activities.
