Job Overview Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a full-time / day shift PICU RN in our PICU/PACU combined unit. Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives. Hours: This full-time position will work 3/12s, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm with an on-call weekend and holiday schedule. Responsibilities PICU nurses provide emergency intensive care to critically ill pediatric patients and will be cross-trained to PACU for our combined unit. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patients through their journey from the moment the child is wheeled through the door through the time the child leaves to go home. Many of our patients return for follow up care as they grow. This will give you an opportunity as a nurse to see your great work shine through the child as they grow older. PICU Registered Nurses will have the opportunity to expand their practice through exposure to all of our lines of service, including Orthopedics, Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation and Cleft Lip and Palate. RNs are accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Children's Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluation and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. Qualifications Education: BSN degree required or in progress Certification/Licensure RN in state of Illinois PALS & ACLS Experience / Skills Two years acute care hospital experience Pediatric experience in an orthopedic and/or plastics environment highly desired Skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
