Primary Position Responsibilities:

In this role, the Senior Pumping and Hydraulics Lead will build, maintain, and expand the strong foundation of Hazen’s relationship with existing and new clients. They will manage, design, and/or provide technical support for water/wastewater/stormwater pump station, pipeline, and complex hydraulic projects within treatment facilities and out in collection and distribution systems. Expected areas of focus include:

    • Responsible for the development and production of pump system analysis and design packages, including, but not limited to system head curves, pump intake design, pump station layout and design, pumping equipment specification, and confirm the designs comply with current design standards.
    • Evaluate existing pump system operation and condition and provide recommendation on rehabilitation and replacement of pumps and ancillary systems, assist with preparing condition assessment reports.
    • Evaluate complex hydraulic scenarios and provide recommended solutions for implementation into technical reports and design documents.
    • Mentor and develop staff that are involved in pump system and hydraulic design.
    • Support Subject Matter Experts in providing technical direction and oversight of pump system projects.
    • Review hydraulic transient analyses on pump station and pipeline projects, make recommendations, prepare reports, and design control measures.
    • Mentor engineers that are involved in pump systems and hydraulic design.
    • Participate in business development, including client interaction, proposal development, and participation in professional societies.
    • Have growth potential for supervisory and oversight of design staff.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

Position Details:

Design, manage, and/or provide technical support on pump station and related projects

      • Perform QA/QC of internal and external deliverables.
      • Work closely with project engineers, and CAD/GIS professionals to execute projects including reports and other technical documents.

Assist with non-project specific tasks

      • Provide technical support on project pursuits and assist with developing technical approach write ups for proposals.
      • Manage, supervise, and mentor staff, provide technical direction and services, staff administration, and oversee quality of deliverables.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • 20+ years' experience required.
  • Professional Engineering license required.

Education Requirements:

  • BS or advanced degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
