Your Role:

The Application Support Specialist is responsible for effectively providing onboarding training, upgrade training/support, ongoing targeted training/support, and optimization support for Epic application end users. He/she will be required to have a multitude of skills including presentation, collaboration with multiple teams and the ability to provide exemplary customer service by troubleshooting user issues. He/she will be responsible for participation in planning, implementation, training, support, and ongoing optimization of clinical IS applications. The ideal candidate must be able to solve problems by analyzing business issues/requirements, analyzing workflows and synthesizing key messages and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position may be appointed to serve on committees, task forces, and workgroups as needed. This position will be required to travel regionally and between other Maine Health entities as needed and may participate in an on-call rotation as needed to provide support services for all operating hours.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

    1. Education: Degree from a 4-year program strongly preferred.
    2. License/Certifications: Credentialing in Epic module(s) required within 6 months of hire date.
    3. Experience: Experience in adult education recommended but not required. Knowledge of hospital/healthcare systems, administrative practices and program management normally acquired during 3 to 5 years of related work experience, including teaching, or coaching in a healthcare environment and implementing new systems, and supporting improvements in departmental functioning.
    4. Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
    5. A detailed understanding of workflows and a general understanding of system configuration.
    6. Strong interpersonal skills.
    7. A willingness to learn and remain competent in skills.
    8. The ability to adapt to change.
    9. The ability to build rapport easily.
    10. Comfort with technology.
    11. Knowledge of clinical process improvement techniques, methods, and facilitation; experience preferred.
    12. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and in public presentations for a variety of audiences, work independently and to effectively collaborate.
    13. Demonstrated ability to identify, organize, manage, and utilize resources and tasks, and to proactively resolve or facilitate resolution of issues efficiently and effectively.
    14. Ability to tailor communication to the target audience to transfer information clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with audiences of varying size and organizational positions.
    15. Ability to learn quickly and remain competent in skills.
    16. A thorough understanding of workflows and a general understanding of system configurations
    17. Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, root cause identification, problem solving and decision making.
    18. Ability to establish effective working relationships with all departments and levels of the organization.
    19. Ability to organize, plan and complete projects of moderate complexity efficiently and in accordance with quality standards.
    20. Ability to create professional memos, training tools, and other documentation as needed.
    21. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
