Job Description

Summary

This role is for an on-site Security Operations Specialist II in Asset Protection's Security Operations Center based at Dollar Tree corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. The candidate must possess expertise in incident response, managing programs, projects, investigations, processes, and technology. Excellent communications, organizational skills, creativity in problem solving, and adapting to changing priorities, are required for success in this position. The role will be responsible for security monitoring through triage, investigation, communication, and reporting, focused on high-risk incident response with potential brand impact and investigations on an enterprise level.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision of Security Operations Center (SOC) specialist team when National Security Operations manager not present.
  • Support with data analytics, reviewing high-risk incidents and make recommendations on high incident areas/markets.
  • Assist National Manager in developing business plans, overseeing and coordinating work of specialists, on-boarding/training analyst team, ensuring accuracy of incident documentation, and evaluating efficiency of response to high-risk incidents.
  • Lead and analyze threat analysis/alerts and recommend changes to reduce false alerts.
  • Support specialist team and provide direction on investigations as needed.
  • Provide expert level analysis and be responsible for providing guidance on complex high-risk incidents.
  • Review of current events/high-risk incidents regularly and guide threat modeling to ensure strong execution of security program.
  • Escalate high-risk incident response with potential brand impact on an enterprise level when National Manager not present.
  • Reduce organizational risk by advising on improvements to threat analysis practices, and incident response.
  • Extensive knowledge of incident response and protocols with ability to direct specialists on high-risk incidents when necessary.
  • Review and escalate potential workplace violence incidents ensuring communication to appropriate leadership partners in Asset Protection and Human resources.
  • Effectively respond to inbound high-risk incident calls utilizing internal guidelines, directing caller on immediate actions and follow up based on each individual incident requirements.
  • Assist with video verification and alarm reviews as necessary.
  • Manage security issues and engage with field asset protection teams and operations teams to ensure timely remediation of issues, escalating as necessary to ensure appropriate levels of urgency and engagement.
  • Design and coordinate cohesive responses to security events that involve multiple teams across the organization.
  • Investigate potential internal theft incidents, gift card fraud, and high impact shoplifting/ORC events, referring to appropriate field AP leadership when losses have been confirmed.
  • Monitor threat analysis information and extreme weather for potential emerging hazards to the business and escalate accordingly.
  • Supervise and coordinate efforts of the emergency response team, asset protection personnel, associates, management, and outside agencies.
  • Monitors operations nationally using all available security systems/technology and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Respond to and maintain current and accurate knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Possess expertise in a combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills.

Minimum Requirements
  • 5+ years' professional experience, retail Asset Protection and Incident Detection & Response
  • Prior hands-on responsibility for SOC operations
  • Ability to work any shift pattern within the 24/7/365 operation including days, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Proven ability to work with colleagues at a variety of seniority levels. Ability to build partnerships and communicate to internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Have experience generating documentation and reports to describe service and program impact/effectiveness and consistency.
  • Proven results utilizing the implementation of technology solutions and vendor partnerships in multiple physical security, workplace violence and incident management disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Prioritization and task organization skills.
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
