Job Description

High Desert Medical Group is seeking a full time Pre-Op Surgery Referral Coordinator. They will provide coordination of elective outpatient/inpatient surgical procedures to ensure timely, accurate utilization of resources as well as patient and provider satisfaction leading to positive outcomes.

Summary of duties:

  • Maintain a current and accurate surgical log of all prospective cases.
  • Prepare each surgical authorization with the necessary pre-operative paperwork.
  • Coordinate the authorized request for surgery with the PCP, surgeon, authorization department and facility where the surgery will be performed.
  • Discuss physician recommendations with patient and assist patient in decision-making.
  • Assist patient in scheduling pre-op H P and pre-orders, i.e. chest x-rays, labs, etc.
  • Schedule conservative treatment (i.e. PT, OT) per physical recommendations.
  • Fax all pre-op order results and H P to surgeon and surgery center and call to confirm they were received.
  • Be familiar with EZ-Cap and NextGen as it serves as a tool/resource for completing assigned tasks.
  • Maintain appropriate files to assure 100% follow-through on all requested surgeries.
  • Perform pre-op EKG's/MRSA swabs and patient education, when unable to be completed by PCP.
  • Maintain a neat environment and work station.
  • Follow and adhere to HDMG's standards of attendance policy, as it is pertinent to be available to assist nursing staff and coordinate authorized surgery requests with the appropriate parties to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $36,400.00 and $51,158.00/year, non-exempt; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current CMA license required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • One year experience in a medical office or clinic.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, HMO, PPO, EPO, FFS.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to type 20 words per minute accurately.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize tasks in order to meet all given deadlines and productivity goals.
  • Ability to responsibly handle matters of a confidential nature.
  • Ability to work in a multi-task, high-productive environment.
