ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Rotating 40 hour work week, 4 Ten hour shifts Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm. May be required to occasionally work weekends. This position will be on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Conduct daily serological and PCR laboratory tests on clinical samples as well as perform bacteriological tests on drinking, marine, surface, and waste water samples. Perform laboratory tests according to State and Federal regulations and accurately enter the data into the laboratory information system generating a report that transmits the data to the client and the regulatory agent. Results are used for operational improvement and/or compliance and diagnosis/treatment of human disease. Remain on call 24/7 to perform highly complex analyses on material that is suspected of containing WMD, interpret results and report results to local, state, and federal partners while maintaining chain of custody and quality of testing to be included in litigation when necessary. Maintain laboratory inventory, equipment, prepare reports, budgets, and other activities relating to Local, State and Federal funding to the city and county for health department programs. Conduct Laboratory Response Network activities covering a 12 county area, responding to, training and educating hospital and first responder personnel for events relating to bioterrorism, chemical terrorism and other man-made and natural disasters. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position requires Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or public health with at least 16 college semester credit hours of biology from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of experience and one (1) year of experience to comply with TNI and CLIA standards as a technical supervisor. Must be able to obtain FBI clearance within first six (6) months of hire. A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
