90% FTE, day/night. Part of your scheduled shifts will be worked in the Neuro Unit and part of your scheduled shifts will be worked in the Ortho Unit. We are seeking a Registered Nurse:

* To work in a dual position supporting two specialty units: Neurosciences and Orthopedics.
* Provide patient and family centered care while partnering with a dynamic multidisciplinary team of nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, coordinated care, advanced practice providers and medical teams who provide high quality, evidence-based care.
* Join TWO of our fast-paced inpatient specialty care units that offer an opportunity to advance your nursing skills utilizing evidence-based practice and become part of a collaborative team that encourages and helps one another to succeed.
* Work at a Level 1 Trauma Center


* In the Neuro Unit:
* Work with a variety of both medical and surgical neuro patients on this 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit. Post-surgical cases may include spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy or ophthalmology cases. The neurological patient population on this unit may include multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trauma or ortho patients with multiple injuries/diagnosis or spinal fractures requiring orthotics.
* Join our interdisciplinary team of stroke professionals. UW Health is proud to a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program in WI with the ability to treat the most complex stroke cases in the state.
* Help provide the highest level of diagnosis and treatment options for people with epilepsy. This unit includes a level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.


* In the Ortho Unit:
* Work with a dynamic interdisciplinary Orthopedic team in a 27-bed ortho general care unit which specializes in orthopedic surgeries related to spine, hips, acute traumatic orthopedic injuries, orthopedic oncology, and hardware removal.
* Patients may be admitted directly from the emergency department, direct admissions from an outside hospital, PACU, or may be transferred from another inpatient unit.
* Be part of a team that uses evidence-based care and cutting-edge technology.



Education:

Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing.

Work Experience:

Minimum - Applicants with at least 6 months of relevant nursing experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification.
