This position is a salary position at pay grade 210.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Pavement Asset Manager will act as the lead for field crew that will support Public Works by providing preliminary pavement data needed to evaluate the existing conditions of street projects as part of the Infrastructure Management Plan (IMP).

Responsibilities

* Performs preliminary data collection and conducts field investigations and site visits to future project locations
* Collects pavement and survey data
* Interprets and evaluates field data for accuracy and completeness
* Exports data using software and related hardware including Global Positioning System (GPS), GIS, and CAD
* Perform calculations and computer drafting and modeling plan development
* Organizes and creates database of preliminary information gathered
* Maintains and updates information in the database
* Operates testing equipment such as Dynamic Cone Penetrometer and Coring Rig
* Trains and instructs personnel to operate testing equipment
* Operates survey instruments such as level, transit, theodolite, electronic distance meter, total survey station, and drone survey equipment
* Trains and instructs personnel to operate survey equipment
* Responsible for planning and prioritization of work to ensure projects stay on track
* Provides technical guidance to Public Works staff for pavement related inquiries
* Drives to current project locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests, and to provide technical support
* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Requires an Associate's Degree (AA/AS) or 2-year Technical certificate
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience
* A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
