Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representative, Emergency Department Access Services, accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
+ Prior experience with hospital Patient Access/Registration and EPIC
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ N/A
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Evening Shift, following a period of orientation and training on day shift
+ Weekend and Holiday Rotations
+ Part time, 20 hours per week
Essential Functions:
+ Interviews patient and or family to complete registration
+ Obtain/confirm all demographic and financial information is complete and accurate. Obtain and copy ID and insurance cards. Complete and copy all consent forms
+ Accurately complete the Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire (MSP)
+ Answers department phones quickly and relays all messages
+ Collect deposits, deductibles and co-pays so as to meet required cash targets
+ Maintain the required productivity and accuracy percentage as specified for job level
+ Obtain Advance Medical Directive information, patient specific
+ Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
