Bethesda MD United States Henry M. Jackson Foundation Full time

Overview

Join the HJF Team

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

This position will be in support of the Graduate School of Nursing / Adjustment Disorders Team with Uniformed Services University (USU). The position is 100% remote, on an as-needed basis. The expectation is 2 hours a week.

The Adjustment Disorders (AjD) team is investigating the validity, reliability, and sensitivity to change for a military-centric clinical tool developed to measure the presence of and severity of Adjustment disorder. AjD is the most prevalent mental health diagnosis in the U.S. military, and is highly comorbid with suicidality. It is also the most common reason for aeromedical evacuations from combat zones, and is linked to early separation from the military.

Responsibilities

HJF is seeking a Clinical Psychiatric Assessor to conduct clinical assessments for participants in our research programs. The candidate will actively participate in ongoing research and will be responsible for clinical evaluations of research participants using structured instruments (primarily CGI & CAPS-5) using RedCap for data collection. These instruments are administered by clinicians and clinical researchers who have a working knowledge of PTSD. Trained paraprofessionals who have experience can also administer these instruments.

Responsibilities

Handles confidential information requiring professional discretion and compliance with protected health information, data integrity, and security policies. Conducts participant assessments while observing all protocol requirements and guidelines. Completes all data entry required after each assessment, to include answering study team queries. Manages a caseload of various study participants and is able to organize and submit all required documents for each specific study to the relevant study team, and any other applicable parties. Submits all required documentation to the study team, and any other applicable parties. Submits patient master files to ensure audit readiness, including both paper and electronic documents per study protocols. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, strong active listening skills, verbal, and written communication skills, patience and trustworthiness. Participates in occasional team meetings including preparation of manuscripts for publication. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.
