Our Commodity Research team comprises analysts based in London, Houston, Singapore, Beijing, Gdynia, Tokyo, Lund, and Sao Paulo.

Electricity is the driving force behind the modern economy. Our customers rely on us for supply, demand, pricing insights, and more. As intermittent renewable sources expand, zero-emission policies gain traction, and sustainable finance initiatives grow, the demand for our services has never been stronger. To meet this demand, we are expanding our team in both Oslo and Houston.

Position Overview: The primary focus will be on improving and developing products for US ISO markets (including PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, ISONE, CAISO, MISO, and SPP) and will work very closely with existing US-based Research teams in Carbon and Natural Gas, as well as our Oslo-based Power Research team. This involves writing reports, guiding quantitative modeling, and forecasting prices based on factors such as demand, renewable generation, dispatchable generation, and transmission constraints. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, pay meticulous attention to detail, communicate effectively, and work independently.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Analyze supply and demand as well as other fundamental price drivers in the US power markets.
• Write analyses to support traders and market participants.
• Improve and develop products for US ISO markets' quantitative models, including data handling and processing. This encompasses modeling and forecasting renewables using weather forecasts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: A higher education degree (MSc or PhD level) in fields such as economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, applied physics, meteorology, or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous roles as a trader, analyst, or in related positions within the US ISO markets is preferred, but not necessary
• Knowledge: A good understanding of the US power markets and the underlying fundamental and policy drivers is preferred, but not necessary
• Data Proficiency: Strong skills in data analysis and predictive modeling.
• Statistical Background: Proficiency in statistics and machine learning techniques, particularly when applied to meteorological data.
• Data Visualization: Effective data visualization skills for time series and geospatial data.
• Data Proficiency: Strong skills in data analysis and predictive modeling.

• Power System Familiarity: Knowledge of power system modeling and an understanding of how weather impacts energy dynamics is an advantage.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $97,300.00 - $180,700.00.

Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/"bonus plan"). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
