Position Summary:The summary of the position includes day-to-day coordination and execution of cargo storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, warehouse value added services and other supply chain functions. It incorporates cross dock, transload, and breakbulk duties as well as compliance, security, and maintenance of the site. This Position Description identifies the major responsibilities of this job.  It does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential additional duties assigned by leadership and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the company's overall benefit.Core Responsibilities & Duties:Manage a team of logistics professionals to ensure organizational standards are met.Supervising, coaching, and training warehouse staff or other logistics specialists.Planning logistics, warehouse, and transportation activities.Develop, maintain, and improve KPI requirements (both internal and external).Ensure staffing levels are adequate and profitability is in line with goals.Help to process daily shipments via common carrier, integrator and freight forwarder.Work within ERP, WMS, and MRP systems to ensure accurate inventory control.Optimizing location to maximize efficiency and profitability.Maintain site certifications and records such as CTPAT, CFS, ISO, GDP, etc. as well as compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.Liaising and negotiating with suppliers.Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas.Ensuring routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed.Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors.Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff.Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilities needsOther duties as assigned.Job Requirements & Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree is preferred.MS Word, Excel, and overall computer literate.Advanced level of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Power Point and ExcelSAP experience not required but preferred.Strong analytical/problem solving, communication, and collaboration/relationship skills.Familiarity with security measures and protocols.Able to work effectively in a highly cross-functional organization, as well as work independently.Requires the ability to make judgments and work with minimum supervision.Level-headed and be able to lead a team.What We Offer:Competitive base salary.Two weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, sick time and holidays.Company provided life insurance.Health, vision, and dental insurance options.Commuter benefit plan.Optional supplemental life insurance.401(k)Wellness program.A great place to work with a terrific culture.Since 1990, Forward Air has been a leading provider of ground transportation and related logistics services to the North American air freight and expedited LTL market.
