Salary Range: $15.00 to $15.50 per hour

Salary Grade: 12

Summary of Responsibilities:

Under the direction of CDD's Managing Director, the Parent Partner serves as a resource to family members/guardians/caregivers of participants in the Community Credible Messenger Initiative

program. The Parent Partner plays a major role in CCMI's recidivism reduction, family re-unification and effective relationship-building practices/efforts; and assist in coordinating a variety of prevention /intervention activities/services for families/guardians/caregivers of high-risk youth and vulnerable populations, in the City of Rochester

Qualifications/Education and Experience:

Education:

Associate Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or closely related social science field preferred; High School Diploma or High School Equivalent is required; will consider equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

Requires three (3) years of experience working with at-risk youth, gang members and their family members/guardians/caregivers; experience and familiarity with family counseling, effective relationship-building practices, group dynamics, intake & assessments, case management, and consumer engagement strategies; knowledge of best practices in family development, delinquency prevention & intervention methods is preferred.

Familiarity with family & youth development, asset building and re-direction strategies is required; knowledge of proven methods aimed at family stability, family re-unification, reduced recidivism, and personal/individual risk-reduction is preferred.

Experience and/or training in conflict mediation, crisis intervention and/or de-escalation techniques is required; knowledge of and experience in addressing patterns of conflict resulting from trauma, violence, exceptional family stress, and untreated multi-generational issues strongly preferred.

Must have good organizational & planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; requires good, judgement, negotiation, follow-up and problem solving skills; must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team; requires flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must possess an understanding of the issues relating to low-income and/or vulnerable populations; requires a good understanding and sensitivity of issues faced by individuals and families moving from dependence to independence/self-sufficiency. Knowledge of emotional trauma and effects on individuals/family structures is strongly preferred.

Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; requires good public speaking and facilitation skills; experience developing and conducting information sessions is preferred; knowledge of public/social media is helpful.

Requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; must have demonstrated ability to interact with diverse individuals/groups in diverse settings; must maintain respect for cultural backgrounds and practices of employees/consumers; and must have the ability to initiate and maintain partnerships with both internal & external customers.

Experience in support service coordination and information & referral is required; possess in-depth knowledge of northeast Rochester and surrounding communities; strongly prefer experience and knowledge of family services, court/criminal justice system, laws/legal statutes, hospital systems, advocacy services, pre and post incarceration/transition programs, etc.; knowledge of area organizations/municipalities, resources, and opportunities to assist families/consumers is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites required.

Must be available in emergency situations and prepared to work non-traditional hours.

Bi-lingual capabilities English/Spanish is strongly preferred.

Requires the physical health and capability to work in an office/community setting with or without reasonable accommodations.

Requires a valid NYS Driver's License; daily access to reliable and insured transportation; as well as a clear driving record.
