DescriptionRisk Manager - Financial Risk Management UK - London, US - Stamford, New York or HartfordThe Risk Manager is key in supporting the Financial Risk Center of Excellence (FRM COE). The position will focus on the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, management and reporting of all credit and country risk embedded activities undertaken at AXA XL and ensure their adherence to defined risk appetites. The candidate will closely interact with the Underwriting Businesses, Investments, Treasury, Unsecured Reinsurance Recoverables, AXA XL Legal Entities and the AXA Group Financial Risk Management team.Credit risk is defined as the risk of loss resulting from migration and default. Country risk is defined as the risk of economic loss directly stemming from the actions of a government, adverse economic conditions, war, terrorism and/or political violence.DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include?·       Identify sources of credit and country risk·       Contribute to risk management policies, authorities, risk budgets and capacity allocations·       Coordinate risk capacity requirements from various risk sources ·       Support regulatory and group reporting requirements·       Collaborate with risk partners to support the establishment and maintenance of risk management policies, tolerances, and authorities·       Establish and maintain appropriate risk assessment methodologies·       Partner with risk sources and legal entities with respect to scenario and PML analysis·       Review selected underwriting portfolios and complex transactions·       Support second opinion analysis related to the Short-Term Economic Capital (STEC) process·       Review transactions that are referred to Risk and recommend viable solutions·       Identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions to enhance the risk framework·       Present the country and credit risk frameworks to various forums·       Support the development of risk/return optimization practices·       Identify risk issues requiring attention and recommend mitigating actions·       Develop robust working relationships with members of AXA XL and AXA Group·       Facilitate the development, implementation, and sharing of best practices in risk managementYou will report to the Vice President, Head of Credit & Country Risk ManagementQualificationsSHARE your talentWe’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:Required Skills and Abilities:·       Bachelor and/or master’s degree in insurance/risk management, actuarial studies, finance, economics or mathematics desirable ·       Solid experience in P&C risk management and/or underwriting or actuarial experience·       Understanding of AXA XL (re)insurance and functional area products and risk sources·       Critical thinking, robust analytical skills, and attention to detail·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization.·       Leadership, negotiating and influencing skills·       Demonstrated skills in relationship building across a highly-complex global organization.Desired Skills and Abilities:·       Understanding of risk management principles and philosophy·       Understanding of AXA XL risk management practices, systems, and models·       Experience in presenting/interacting with senior management, auditors, and regulators·       Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms·       Bloomberg, S&P IQ, Excel and Power Point expertise ·       Results oriented, collaborative team playerThe U.S. base salary range for this position is $92,500 - $182,000 USD.AXA XL is a global Company.  The salary range noted above is applicable only for US applicants.  Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location.
