ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Saturday among three (3) shifts: 8:00 a.m. - 5 p.m., 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and 10 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Must be available to work additional hours as needed during emergency situations, including Sundays and Holidays.

Responsibilities

Assigned to the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station or the Cefe Valenzuela Landfill, works outside in all weather conditions. Stationed at the entry gate to account for everyone entering the facility through sign-in sheets, checks personal/commercial IDs to assure that all loads are in compliance with City ordinance and to determine any disposal fees; inspects loads to determine type of material being brought in for disposal and directs customers to appropriate disposal sites. Provides excellent customer service by providing information as to disposal procedures, answering questions and resolving complaints. Performs grounds keeping duties to maintain facility cleanliness by mowing, weed eating, and picking up wind-blown debris and other matter within the facility and along the boundary perimeters. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position requires High School Diploma or GED with minimum of six (6) months experience. A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered. A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.Must obtain Waste Screening certification by completing City-provided training within one (1) year of hire. Customer service experience and experience working outside in all weather conditions preferred.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
