HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator II to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with specified clinical research protocols. This is one of several positions in the nursing family that includes research nurses, RNs, and practitioners.

This position will be in support of the Hematology Oncology Department at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). This is in support of a clinical trial treating Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

* Educates the patients and their families on the research protocol and their rights and responsibilities. Interviews patients to collect data on medical history and health status.
* Reviews new patient records and screens patients for eligibility for participating in research protocol.
* Administers appropriate drugs to patients as necessary.
* Draws blood and obtains other specimens as required. Schedules all patient examinations, repeat examinations, treatments, and laboratory tests required by the protocol.
* Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data.
* Maintains study documentation within patient and regulatory files per prescribed standards.
* Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians. Observes the patients for improvements, set-backs and changes in conditions. Reports results that warrant prompt action to the research physicians.
* Adheres to legal, professional, and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
* May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Must having nursing experience within oncology.
* Must have clinical trials and research experience.
* Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary for performing research tasks.
* Ability to learn and become proficient in data acquisition and clinical responsibilities related to research protocols.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Work Environment

* This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
* Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Licenses and Certifications

* Licensed as a Registered Nurse
* Certified in basic cardiac life support
